The Strokes have released one of the most anticipated tracks of the year with 'Under Cover of Darkness,' the first single from their forthcoming album 'Angles,' which is scheduled to be released on March 22.
Strokes fans have been eagerly awaiting new material from the seminal New York City quartet since 2006, and with 'Under Cover of Darkness,' those fans have every reason to be pleased.
Rolling Stone gave the tune four stars and proclaims that it, "barrels into the bar with 'Return to Form' written on its forehead." Fans will also be excited to learn that the band will be hosting a free download of the track on their website for 48 hours, beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 9.
Strokes bass player, Nikolai Fraiture, took some time recently to discuss the band's fourth studio release with BBC Radio, explaining, "Sonically, I feel it's the album which should have been made between 'Room On Fire' and 'First Impressions Of Earth.'"
The Strokes are heralded as instigators of the indie rock explosion of the early 2000's, leading the way for acts like the White Stripes, Kings of Leon, Interpol and Regina Spektor.
